Prison time coming for Piqua man in attempted Kroger robbery

TROY - A 28-year-old Piqua man who admitted to an attempted Kroger robbery in February is to be sentenced May 22.

Eric Higgins pleaded guilty Tuesday in Miami County Common Pleas Court.

He had been accused of telling a cashier he had a firearm and taking money from a register Feb. 6. No one was injured, police said.

Higgins admitted to an amended charge. The judge ordered a pre-sentence investigation.

Higgins also faces a felony aggravated robbery charge involving the hold up of a Speedway in Greenville on Feb. 19. That charge is pending in Darke County Common Pleas Court.
