Gas station clerk held at gunpoint, Dayton police searching for suspect

Police are searching for suspect they say robbed a Dayton gas station clerk at gunpoint Saturday morning, according to a police report.

A customer who witnessed the robbery around 6 a.m. called police when he witnessed the suspect hold a gun to the clerk's head and then flee the store.

Wearing a black and blue flannel shirt, a blue Chicago Cubs hat and a bandage on his nose, the suspect picked an orange from a fruit basket and pretended to pay with a dollar bill before pulling out a handgun.

The suspect held the gun to a male clerk's forehead as he demanded money while another clerk at the store watched from a neighboring cash register.

According to the report, the suspect made off with $300 in miscellaneous bills before running to a business behind the gas station.

Dayton police will review security footage from the store once it has finished processing, according to police.

INITIAL REPORT (Sept. 23)

Dayton police have responded to an armed robbery at a Shell station on Stanley Avenue.

The caller reported that a man was taking money at gunpoint at the location, and “does not know where the suspect went”.

Dayton police are on scene.

It is unknown how much was stolen, and no injuries have been reported.
