Fox said rescuers had to walk at least a quarter mile to the wood line, and another quarter mile through the wooded area, to reach the man. They took him first to a waiting pickup truck, then to a waiting CareFlight helicopter.
"It took us a long time ... at least an hour" to reach the victim, Chief Fox said.
Rescuers were up to their waists in mud because of the conditions made sloppy by recent rain and all the heavy logging equipment at the scene, he said.
UPDATE @ 4:19 p.m.: Rescuers have the victim on a stretcher and they are carrying him through the muddy fields to a waiting truck.
The CareFlight helicopter remains on the ground.
