Chaz Gillilan was identified as a suspect in a statewide alert related to a reported April 11 traffic stop shooting.
More than a week later on April 19, authorities announced the Newcomerstown police officer who said he was shot in the arm, 37-year-old Bryan Eubanks, gave a false report to cover up a failed suicide attempt.
Eubanks was terminated on April 18.

Authorities say the Newcomerstown police officer who said he was shot in the arm during a traffic stop gave a false report to cover up a failed suicide attempt, according to a Associated Press report.
Newcomerstown police officer Bryan Eubanks, 37, reported individuals in a black Geo Tracker shot him on April 11.
Now, the Tuscarawas County Sheriff's office says that report was false, according to the AP.
A male suspect was taken into police custody on the day of the shooting, but was later released.
Eubanks was terminated on Tuesday, and could face charges, according to the AP.

Police are still searching across the state of Ohio for two suspects authorities say shot a Newcomerstown police officer. Officer Bryan Eubanks was shot twice after initiating a traffic stop on a Black Geo Tracker. The vehicle then fled the scene after striking Officer Eubanks in the arm. Officer Eubanks sustained minor injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.
Both suspects are considered armed and dangerous. Authorities first reported that Chaz Gillian was a suspect in the shooting, but Gillian turned himself in and after being interviewed he was cleared and released.

We’re working to determine whether a man whom the Ohio Attorney General’s Office identified as one of the suspects involved with the reported abduction and shooting on a Newcomerstown, Ohio police officer is still a suspect.
Conflicting media reports indicate police may be searching for two unknown suspects and the one suspect who was identified has been cleared.

Newcomerstown, Ohio police in Tuscarawas County have issued a statewide Blue Alert as they are looking for two men who they say shot an officer.

A Newcomerstown Police Officer was shot by two male suspects in a black Geo Tracker. Vehicle is blacked out with dark tinted windows. Male suspects are armed and dangerous. One male wearing a red sweatshirt and the other wearing a lime green shirt. One suspect was in a tactical vest. Suspects are armed with a shotgun and handguns.
The officer’s name and gender are unknown at this time.
