“It replays in my head 24/7, all day, every day,” Shoffner told News Center 7’s Mike Campbell on Monday.
Shoffner was with Wallace, trying to cross North Main Street near Shadyside Drive early Saturday, when the northbound car hit Wallace and never slowed down.
Wallace died at the scene.
There were no crosswalk markings on the street where Wallace was hit, police said.
“I don’t like it. I’m mad the driver didn’t stop,” Shoffner said. “I pray they turn themself [sic] in or they’re suffering. [Wallace] didn’t deserve none of that, he really didn’t.”
Police have not said whether they have a suspect, but have said they are looking for a white Chevrolet seen headed north from the incident, which was reported about 12:50 a.m.
If you have information that could help in the investigation, you are asked to call Dayton police at 937-333-COPS.

“[The vigil] was more like love, like Fourth of July celebration, because we’re going to celebrate his death; we’re not going to cry,” said Angela Curtis, who attended the vigil. “We’re going to cry, naturally, but we’re going to celebrate the love that we have for Ahman.”
Curtis said she hopes the person responsible feels compelled to work with investigators.
“It’s going to weigh on their minds, so heavy, until they’re going to lose sleep. If it was an accident, it’s an accident,” she said.
911 dispatchers received at least four calls about the pedestrian accident.
“People are outside screaming,” said one female caller to a dispatcher. “... “They’re saying he’s dead. I hope not ... Please send someone.”
