Builder Donates Home Construction For Disabled Fairborn Veteran

Daniel DeVol Custom Builder, Inc. will work with "Homes for Our Troops " to construct a specially adapted home in Fairborn for Cpl. Larry Draughn, Jr. this summer.

Corporal Draughn suffered traumatic amputations of both his legs and two fingers when an IED exploded while he was on a routine foot patrol in May 2009 in Afghanistan.

Donations in support of the construction of Cpl. Draughn’s home in Fairborn can be made to “Homes for Our Troops” and designated to the Larry Draughn, Jr. Fund.

“It is an honor to be a part of this noble cause,” says Dan DeVol, Owner and President of Daniel DeVol Custom Builder, Inc. “I also hope that we can count on the community to join us in supporting this cause, because we are proud to serve a local veteran who has so selflessly fought for our freedoms.”

The specialized home will be constructed in The Sanctuary community in Fairborn, Ohio. Construction consideration will go beyond compliance with the American Disability Act and feature a single-level, open floor plan, roll-in showers, cook tops, sinks and other standard accessibility items.

This will be the first house in Ohio that Homes for Our Troops has built. With more than 100 built across the country, Homes for Our Troops is a national non-profit organization based in Taunton, Mass. Their mission is to build specially adapted homes for service members who have been severely injured in combat operations since September 11, 2001. All of these homes are built at no cost to the veteran, thanks to donations from thousands of individuals, foundation grants, corporate sponsors, professional trades people and support from countless volunteers. DeVol Custom Builder will be supported by the members and staff of the Home Builders Association of Dayton.
