During its grand opening today, Sept. 30, Glo Juice + Cafe will offer customers a half-off coupon for the item of their choice on their next visit. The juice bar opened this morning and will be open until 7 p.m.

Glo is owned and operated by Amy Beaver, owner of Dayton’s breakfast and lunch restaurant Butter Cafe, which has operated at 1106 Brown St. since 2010. The two businesses are separated only by a parking lot.

“Glo feels like an extension of who I am,” Beaver in a release. “There isn’t a thing on the menu that I wouldn’t be excited and willing to put in my own body.”

All of Glo’s cold-pressed juice and smoothie products are made in-house with no added sugars, Beaver said in a release. All items are gluten-free and vegan friendly. The company is partnering with Taste-T-Love Baby Food to sell organic baby foods.

Glo Juice Bar + Cafe’s hours will be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

***PREVIOUS STORY (July 15, 2019)***

Butter Cafe's owner, Amy Beaver, is ready to talk juice.

Plans have long been in the works to open Glo Juice Bar & Cafe next door to the downtown breakfast and lunch diner and finally, the finish line is in sight. Beaver said she expects Glo to open in early August at 1120 Brown St.

Customers of Butter Cafe, which opened in 2010 at 1106 Brown St., won’t have to travel far for their smoothie. The two businesses are separated by only a small parking lot. Over the past few months, Beaver has been introducing some of the drinks that will be available at Glo on the Butter Cafe menu and said it’s been a big hit.

The new business will serve cold-pressed juices and smoothies, a variety of toasts, and perhaps a selection of cold sandwiches, according to Beaver.

The building formerly housed a yoga studio and before that, a scooter shop. This meant extensive renovations needed to be done. The white interior of the new business will come alive once the “living wall” is installed — a wall Beaver described as completely covered by plants.

Discovering she was gluten and dairy intolerant a few years ago, Beaver said consuming more raw fruits and vegetables has improved her well-being in many ways. Glo Juice Bar is going to give Beaver the room to create healthier options she enjoys in her own life for the customers she’s grown to love.
