CareFlight called for child hit by car in Jamestown

UPDATE @ 6:10 p.m.:

A 6-year-old boy was flown to Dayton Children’s Hospital this afternoon after he was struck by an SUV.

The child reportedly pedaled his bicycle into the street, into the path of a sport-utility vehicle around 3:45 p.m. along West Xenia Street.

Lt. Tim Bryan of Jamestown police said the boy was not wearing a helmet.

“It’s an all around good idea. Even if you’re 50 or 60, it’s a good idea to wear them,” he said.

The driver was traveling at 25 mph, and was not speeding at the time of the accident, police said.

The boy’s name and condition were not immediately available.

CareFlight has been called after a child was reportedly struck by a vehicle in Jamestown.

Crews were dispatched to the accident on West Xenia Street around 3:45 p.m.
