From the apartment's window, the mother shouted outside for help. Local residents and neighbors who heard her frantic cries gathered below.
Video footage shows the mother throwing a bed sheet out of the window, as thick, dark smoke billows out from behind her. The local residents below spread the sheet out and prepare to catch her children.
First, the mom tossed out her son, who was caught by the people below. The mother then threw out her young toddler, who was also caught by the good Samaritans.

The woman's son sustained some burns on his skin and her daughter suffered a broken leg. They are both at the hospital receiving treatment for their injuries, with their father by their side.
After saving her children, the mother was too tired to climb out of the window. Firefighters found her lying unconscious beside the window. She died in the hospital.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
