Chinese manufacturer acquires Moraine firm

Moraine-based Harco Manufacturing Group LLC has been acquired by a Chinese automotive industry supplier, company officials announced Tuesday.

Founded in 1948, Harco produces brake hose assemblies for the automotive industry.

Sunsong Holdings Inc. plans to retain Harco’s 100 employees, according to Larry Harris, Harco’s owner. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“This merger should provide for global business growth and thus, ensure continued employment for those that have contributed to the success of Harco,” Harris said in a statement.

Sunsong Holdings is the U.S. subsidiary of Qingdao Sunsong Co. Ltd., headquartered in Qingdao, China. Sunsong is the top manufacturer of brake hose in China, and also produces a wide range of automotive hoses and assemblies for global original and aftermarket automotive manufacturers.

Officials said the Harco acquisition is an important step in the further global expansion of Sunsong.

Sunsong is the second China-based automotive company to establish operations in Moraine. Fuyao Glass America Inc. plans to hire 1,550 workers and invest $360 million in the former General Motors assembly plant in Moraine, where production is expected to start this summer.
