Monroe to test weather sirens today

The city of Monroe will conduct its weather siren testing as scheduled today at noon.

The area has the potential to see severe weather later this afternoon and evening, especially after 3 p.m. Since no severe weather is expected during the time the sirens are tested, city officials want to make sure the sirens are fully functional in the event a real activation would be required later today.

As an additional reminder to citizens, the sirens are intended for those who are outside so they can take cover indoors. Residents should pay attention to the weather on their preferred local news via television, radio, Internet or NOAA weather radios.
