Classmates Remember Teen Who Drowned In Brookville Lake

Grief counselors have been called to a Centerville, Ind., high school to help students cope with the death of a classmate who drowned in an accident at Brookville Lake on Monday night.

Trey Kidwell, 17, drowned after he accidentally drove into the lake. Authorities said he and 16-year-old Robert Sharp were lost on a road near the lake when they mistook a boat ramp for the continuation of the road.

Investigators said Sharp was able to swim to shore, but Kidwell was trapped in the car. Three people have died in similar accidents at the lake.

Kidwell was a member of his high school swim team. Fellow members gathered to remember him, according to school officials.

The school has set up a scholarship fund in Kidwell’s name. Donations can be sent to the school’s Dollars for Scholars Program.
