A facilities management company will no longer be employed by Middletown City Schools, resulting in the elimination of 57 positions.

Sodexo said that it received notice from Middletown City Schools that, effective June 30, the district would no longer use the company to perform custodial, grounds and maintenance services.

Notification of the job cuts came in a WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act) notice received Wednesday by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services Office of Workforce Development Rapid Response unit. The company said the school district informed it of the cuts on Feb. 12.

Sodexo’s contract with the school district will end at the end of June.
