A blurb on the fall sports promotions portion of the university's website proclaims Sept. 14 as "Harambe Night: Join us in celebrating the life of Harambe. The first 100 students will receive a stuffed gorilla to commemorate the life of the legendary Harambe."
Through its Twitter account, the university touted Harambe Night with "Have a gorilla suit? Wear it to the game for a chance to win prizes!"

Following the zoo incident, a new, higher barrier was installed around the Gorilla World exhibit, which reopened June 7 with additional safety measures in place, a move praised by zoo visitors, but Harambe went on to become a popular meme.
