A Dayton woman said someone broke into her daughter's home. She was concerned too because she lived a few doors down the street. Then, on Wednesday, sales people from a security company called Pinnacle came knocking at the door and the Johnson's signed a contract.
Jeff and Joyce Johnson now feel they have been wronged. "They took advantage of me," said Jeff Johnson of Dayton.
The Johnson's said the sales people from Pinnacle were very convincing and boasted about the reputation of the company. However, they didn't feel the situation was right.
Joyce Johnson said she called the Better Business Bureau.
John North of the BBB said his office has gotten a huge amount of complaints against Pinnacle and consumers should be aware.
The Johnson's said Pinnacle offered them free installation and signs. They were only required to pay a usage fee of $48.
After alerting the police, a News Center 7 crew tried to trigger the alarm to see if Pinnacle would call back and no one called.
When we tried to call the person who sold the Johnson's the security system, the call went to voice mail.
Now this local family wants others to know what happened. "I'll be smarter in the future," said Jeff Johnson.
The Better Business Bureau is working with the Ohio Attorney General to investigate Pinnacle Security.
In the meantime, the BBB recommends that if you are suspicious of any door-to-door sales people, don't buy anything and give the BBB a call.
