Coronavirus: Huber Heights mayor calls for taping up of playgrounds

Earlier this week, Governor DeWine ordered that all public playgrounds close to stop the spread of Coronavirus, but not everyone has listened to his warning.

Some city leaders are stepping in and taking action. Huber Heights Mayor Jeff Gore posted on Facebook saying he noticed several children playing on playgrounds while out and about, and has decided to start taping off equipment around the city.

“We want the caution tape to be a reminder for people that this isn’t a good idea,” he says.

Local health experts tell News Center 7 that Coronavirus can live on surfaces for several hours, and even days.

Parks are still open during this time and people are encouraged to get outside, just not share park equipment. Walking, biking, and hiking are among the outside activities deemed safe.
