Awaiting trial in Harrison Twp. kidnapping case, man is charged with new crimes

A 19-year-old Harrison Twp. man awaiting trial later this month in connection to a home invasion case is now facing new charges for an earlier incident.

Jaron Hayes was indicted Friday by a Montgomery County grand jury on kidnapping, aggravated burglary, robbery and two counts of abduction stemming from a June 19, 2016, incident on Elm Hill Drive, the street where Hayes lived in Harrison Twp.

He is due to be arraigned Tuesday on the new charges.

Hayes has been held in the Montgomery County Jail since his Jan 23 arrest after prosecutors said he and two others forced an older woman at gunpoint to withdraw money from her bank account over a period of several hours during a Jan. 20 and Jan. 21 home invasion off Philadelphia Drive in Harrison Twp.

At the time of the arrests of Hayes, Randall Williams, 25, and Daviana North, 19, Montgomery County Sheriff Phil Plummer said it was embarrassing the suspects would treat the elderly this way.
