The leave and resignation came after the June 17, arrest of Novak’s assistant, Adam Hardy, by Riverside police for allegedly having sexual relations with a minor.
Hardy faces charges of sexual battery and illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material or performance. He remains free from jail on a $25,000 bond.
While not being able to address the reasons for Novak’s resignation, Hopkins said they were unrelated to Hardy’s arrest.
Novak, a 1999 graduate of Wright State University and Valley View High School in Germantown, previously taught at Kettering and London City schools before joining the Brookville staff in 2002. He had received good if not excellent reports from his principals since then.
Moler, who is also a Brookville graduate, completed her student teaching at the Milford School District in Clermont County.
