A 30-year-old Dayton man and two others indiscriminately opened fire on an occupied house, shooting more than 60 rounds and leading to the death of one of his accomplices.

Curtis McShann was sentenced today to 60 years to life in prison in connection to the Oct. 25, 2016, shooting of Brandon Lanier, 27, on Riverside Drive, according to the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office. Lanier later died of his injuries.

Prosecutors made a case in a memorandum filed Monday to sentence McShann to the maximum penalty for “violent and unconscionable acts on the part of the defendant.”

McShann, co-defendant Jamarko Walker Jr., 22, and Lanier arrived at the Riverside Drive house heavily armed. When four people were leaving, they robbed them and forced them to the ground at gunpoint -- one face down with the barrel of an assault rifle pressed into his back, according to the filing.

Three women also were shot and seriously injured in a firefight between the robbers and people at the house, according to court documents.

Walker was sentenced July 7 to 24 years to life in prison.

McShann was convicted Aug. 25 by jurors of four counts of murder; five counts of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon; one count of aggravated burglary with a deadly weapon; one count of having weapons under disability for a prior violent offense; and one count of having weapons under disability for a prior drug conviction. All counts have a three-year firearm specifications, and all but the last two charges include repeat violent offender specifications.
