Man charged with murder in Dayton weekend shooting

A Dayton man is facing charges in the shooting death of a 47-year-old man Saturday on East Maplewood Avenue in Dayton.

Jeremy J. Stewart, 25, is facing two counts of murder and two counts of felonious assault, according to Dayton Municipal Court records.

He was arrested at the scene around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, according to the jail booking site.

Police responded to 58 East Maplewood Avenue on a reported of a shooting around 10:30 p.m., said Lt. Jason Hall.

Once on scene, police found Bernard Little, 47, with gunshot wounds.

Dayton Fire Department paramedics responded to provide aid, but Little died from his injuries, Hall said.

The shooting was the result of an altercation between neighbors, according to the initial investigation.

“The details on how this incident unfolded to include potential motives are still being investigated at this time, and we will be working with the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office in regards to criminal charges,” said Hall.
