Jacob Caldwell to remain at detention center, Greene County court rules

A second detention hearing was held for Jacob Caldwell at the Greene County Juvenile Court in Xenia on Friday morning.

Caldwell is the teen who disappeared for about a year after watching his father get murdered and was found  at a Miami Twp. home after officials carried out a search warrant.  The 15-year-old was not present at Friday’s hearing.

Caldwell has a history of running away, so all parties agreed it’s best that he remains in detention. In addition, he’d be safer there, and his medical needs would be met, the parties agreed.

Prior to Monday, had not been seen since Aug. 21, 2017, six days after he witnessed the fatal shooting of his father, Robert Caldwell. Sugarcreek Twp. detectives had been working with the FBI in an effort to locate the teen.

He was found living in the basement of a Miami Twp. home where four adults were also found residing, said Sugarcreek Twp. Police Chief Michael Brown.
