Here is the policy:
- Students may wear their costume to school, however, no time will be given to change into their costume at school. Please make sure that your child's costume is comfortable.
- Teachers will not be able to assist with any costume preparation for students. Any face make-up must be applied at home. Also, face paint and any accessories related to violence are not allowed.
- If your child's costume has a mask, they may wear it during the MONSTERWalk-a-Thon, but will be asked to take off the mask during the school day.
- No weapons or gory costumes will be permitted!
- No clown costumes or clown masks will be permitted - NEW GUIDELINE
“We are asking families and students not to wear clown costumes,” said Karen DeRosa, Springboro Schools District spokeswoman.
DeRosa said it was parents who called the district asking if they would consider changing the policy to no longer permit clown costumes.
Even though the school has had no issues regarding creepy clowns, the district decided to be proactive and make the policy change.
