An Edgerton, Ohio, man pleaded not guilty Tuesday to five felony indictments alleging trafficking and possession of drugs and improper handling of firearms in a May incident on Interstate 75 in Troy.
Brian Roose, 36, was indicted by a Miami County grand jury on individual charges of aggravated trafficking, aggravated possession and possession of amphetamines and two counts of improper handling of a firearm. The aggravated trafficking and aggravated possession charges have mandatory prison sentences, if convicted.
State troopers said they stopped Roose on the interstate at Ohio 55 late morning and found nearly $4,000 worth of methamphetamine, scales and two firearms among other allegedly illegal items. Cash totaling $3,483 also was seized.
Judge Christopher Gee heard Roose’s not guilty pleas and set bail at $50,000, which can be posted at 10 percent cash or surety.
A pretrial hearing was set for Sept. 18.
