Miami County deputies to focus on impaired drivers over 4th of July holiday

Additional Miami County sheriff’s deputies will be on patrol for the 4th July with a focus on impaired drivers and other crash-causing violations.

Extra enforcement will begin July 3 thorough July 5 and continue throughout the month.

The 4th of July holiday is one of the deadliest for those on the road, with alcohol playing a large factor in many crashes, according to Miami County Sheriff Dave Duchak.

Deputies will target roads with the most crashes and OVI arrests.

Additional deputies will work overtime and be assigned to state and county roads for traffic enforcement.

Extra enforcement is being funded though a grant the sheriff’s office received last year from the Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services.
