Another employee saw what was going on and called 911, police said.
The man left the scene before police arrived; however, a UPS driver was able to give officers a description of the tan Pontiac seen fleeing the store parking lot, as the driver nearly struck his truck.
A Middletown police officer saw the tan Pontiac speeding along University Boulevard toward Manchester Road, but when the officer tried to stop the car, there was a brief chase. That chase ended about three miles away on Manchester Road near Marshall Road after the Ohio State Highway Patrol set up stop sticks, according to police.

“It was a dangerous situation,” Maj. Scott Reeve said, noting the getaway vehicle almost hit another vehicle at one point.
Two people in the vehicle were arrested.
Jamical Betts, 19, of Dayton, is charged with aggravated robbery and tampering with evidence. Betts is the man who went into the pharmacy and demanded the pills, according to police.
Cameron Redd, 19, of Dayton, is charged with aggravated robbery, driving under suspension, and a traffic offense. Redd was the getaway driver, police said.
Detectives and other officers searched the car as residents from both sides of the street watched. The car’s trunk was thoroughly searched as was the inside of the car doors and the rest of the car’s interior. Detectives and other officers were placing possible evidence into brown paper bags and marking them.
The Middletown robbery is similar to other recent robberies in the area, according to Reeve. Middletown Police are working with other agencies to investigate the robberies.
