He could face up to 18 years in prison at sentencing, scheduled for Nov. 29. He also pleaded guilty to felonious assault, tampering with evidence and receiving stolen property.
William York Sr. was a World War II veteran and the grandfather of Terrel’s girlfriend, Hope Earnshaw York, 24, of Tipp City. She earlier pleaded to felony abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence and receiving stolen property. She could receive up to 9½ years in prison at sentencing, which is scheduled for Nov. 8.
County Prosecutor Tony Kendell said the deal was discussed earlier Friday with the York family.
He declined any comment on the plea until after sentencing. Defense lawyer Jay Adams also declined comment Friday.
William York Sr.’s remains were found June 3, 2015, in a Kentucky creek. He had been reported missing days earlier to Tipp City police by family members.
Earnshaw-York and Terrel initially were jail on theft-related charges involving rifles stolen from the York home. Relatives told investigators they had been living with William York Sr. in the weeks before his death.
Police said he died of blunt force trauma to the head.
