Police called for gunfire ‘narrowly missing’ 2-year-old girl’s head

DAYTON — A 2-year-old girl was standing near a car Friday morning when a man fired two shots into a vehicle before fleeing with his mother.

Officers were called shortly before noon to a home in the 200 block of Yale Avenue in after a man shot a 2002 Chevrolet Impala parked in the driveway, according to a Dayton Police Department report.

The incident happened when the man approached a woman while she was talking with another woman, who had a young daughter. The man, known only to the women as “Man Man,” argued with the first woman about “girl talk” because she spoke about him to another woman they knew in common, according to the report.

During the argument, “Man Man” pulled a gun out of his waistband and held it at his side. The women told police they asked “Man Man” to leave, but said he fired two shots. One shattered the car’s back window and a second hit the right window of the car, “with bullets narrowly missing” the 2-year-old’s head, the report stated.

“Man Man” then left in a car with his mother, according to the report.

It is not clear whether the man was identified or charged in the incident.

No one was injured.
