Coroner’s office IDs 18-year-old killed in Dayton shooting

An 18-year-old was killed, and another 18-year-old is jailed following a shooting Friday afternoon in Dayton.

Aden Alexander of Dayton was identified as the gunshot victim, according to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office. No further information was released about his cause or manner of death.

The shooting was reported about 3:10 p.m. in the basement of a home in the 100 block of Gunckel Avenue in Dayton.

“Someone got shot in the face,” said a woman who called 911.

The shooting may have been accidental, according to initial reports.


Matthew Ogburn Jr. was arrested and booked Friday evening into the Montgomery County Jail on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter.
