Richmond shooting victim ID’d, suspect sought

The shooting victim has been identified as Jason Lewis, 27, of Richmond. He was found with multiple gunshot wounds, according to a Richmond police press release.

Lewis’ body was in the parking lot of the Genesis Apartment Complex when officers arrived at the scene at 1:50 a.m., the release said. The body was transported to the Montgomery County Coroner’s officer.

Police are searching for a suspect. He is described as a 6 foot tall male with a thin build, and he was wearing a red shirt and black shorts at the time the shooting, the release said.

Investigators continue to investigate the shooting, and they ask that anyone with information contact Richmond police at (765) 983-7247.

Police have responded to what is believed to be a fatal shooting at an apartment complex in the 1000 block of South 23rd Street in Richmond.

The shooting occurred at the Genesis Apartments, formerly known as Country Club Apartments, and police received the call about 1:49 a.m., according to our partners at Kicks 96.

Police are searching for a male with dreadlocks who sped away from the scene in a silver vehicle. There were shell casings and blood in the parking lot where the shooting is believed to have occurred, Kicks 99 reported.

The coroner was called to the scene.
