Police: Would-be thief knocks over potato chips, but can’t reach cash

A thief was unable to break into a Middletown drive-through Tuesday morning, according to Middletown police.

Police said a man forced his way into Zip’s Drive Thru, 2105 S. Verity Parkway and knocked over a rack of potato chips but was unable to get into the office where the cash register and other items are stored, the police report said.

The surveillance video showed the suspect attempting to break the protective glass numerous times, and he also tried to gain entry into the locked door, the report said.

Middletown police officers set up a perimeter in the area and K9 Chase conducted a track through the area, but was unsuccessful. The track ended on the east side of Woodside Cemetery near the railroad tracks.
