Report: Trail of food leads to bunny thief

DAYTON — A juvenile is facing a criminal charge after a trail of corn feed led city police to a stolen rabbit, according to a city police incident report.

Dayton officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Jordan Avenue on Wednesday for a reported burglary.

The victim reported someone broke into his shed around 2 a.m. and stole a large brown rabbit, cage and food.

“He stated that there was a trail of bunny rabbit food that went to a neighbor’s house,” wrote Dayton Police Officer Nicholas Brienza in the incident report.

Police followed a trail of corn feed to a home in the 500 block of Greenwald Avenue.

“There was small bits of corn feed the entire way there,” Brienza wrote.

Police located a juvenile inside the Greenwald Avenue home. The juvenile returned the rabbit to officers.

Dayton police completed a breaking and entering arrest summons on the juvenile, according to the incident report.
