On the day of the incident Sagraves called 9-1-1 to report two pit bulls in the backyard of his home in the 300 block of North Burnett Road had attacked his cat, according to court records. Everhart and her young children were visibly upset, the court document said, adding the children were screaming and crying.

Everhart was charged with a misdemeanor for failing to confine her dogs. Two other witnesses also saw the alleged attack, according to court documents.

Sagraves faces a maximum of 18 months in jail for the burglary charge and 12 months for the cruelty conviction.
