Springboro police ask for help with hotel heist

Police have asked for help in identifying a man suspected in a theft 10 days ago at the Hampton Inn in Springboro.

According to a press release, the incident occurred between 1:05 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. at the Hampton Inn at 25 Greenwood Lane, just east of the Interstate 75 interchange at Ohio 73, Central Avenue in Springboro.

The man sought is “seen speaking to several guests in the lobby before approaching the clerk. During the conversation, the suspect asks for a bucket with a mop. The clerk leaves the counter, at which time the suspect goes behind the clerk’s desk and removes money from the cash drawer before leaving the business. The suspect was not a guest of the hotel.”
