Verdict delivered in Samuel White murder trial

A jury found Samuel White, 25, guilty of two counts of murder and two counts of felonious assault in the shooting death of Bryan Coatney in April 2012.

Coatney, 40, was gunned down while standing in the doorway of his home in the 200-block of E. Parkwood in Dayton. Police said White was dating Coatney's ex-girlfriend and tension between the two men led to the deadly violence.

Police said White was in a sport utility vehicle when he went by the Parkwood house and shot Coatney, at least once in the head. When White was being led into the Montgomery County Jail moments after his arrest, he told News Center 7 he never met the victim and had never shot a gun in his life.

The jury deliberated all day Friday without reaching a verdict. Deliberations resumed Monday morning and the verdict was reached ust before 2 p.m.

White will be sentenced February 19, 2014.
