Man surrenders after brief standoff in Dayton

A man on Troy Street surrendered to police this evening after a brief standoff following a report of a sex offense involving a 17-year-old victim.

Dayton police responded to the house in the 700 block of Troy Street shortly after 4 p.m. By 5:35 p.m., the suspect was in custody and police searched the house, according to the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center.

The incident led police to block Troy Street in that area. The incident did not require a tactics team, and no injuries were reported involving the suspect’s apprehension.

Multiple Dayton police officers are blocking Troy Street this evening in the area between Leonhard and Edmund streets.

Police are in the 700 block of Troy Street, where police are trying to take into custody a man who is a suspect in a sex offense involving a 17-year-old victim, according to the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center.

The sex offense was alleged to have happened around 3 p.m. this afternoon, police said.
