Customer Waves Handgun At BMV In Troy

A Sidney man is facing misdemeanor charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol Troopers arrested him for brandishing a handgun and threatening staff and customers at the Miami County Bureau of Motor Vehicles Deputy Registrar License Agency at 1275 Experiment Rd. in Troy Friday morning.

Shawn R. Price, 24, was attempting to obtain a state of Ohio identification card and was involved in a verbal altercation with staff and a patron inside the license bureau. He then went to his vehicle, produced a hand gun and pointed it at the victims and threatened them.

"He then fled the area in his vehicle," according to Lt. Jon Payer, Commander of the Piqua Post of the State Highway Patrol.

Troopers later apprehended Price at the Shelby County Bureau of Motor Vehicles Deputy Registrar License Agency in Sidney. A consent search of his vehicle revealed no weapons. There were no injuries to any of the victims or damage to any state property.

Price is being at the Miami County Jail and was charged with menacing, aggravated menacing and inducing panic.
