Dayton-area Hilton Garden Inn donates 1,000 bagged lunches to homeless shelter

The Hilton Garden Inn Dayton South Austin Landing will donate 1,000 bagged lunches to St. Vincent De Paul for their Bag Lunch Donation Program. The inn prepares 50 lunches each day, Monday through Friday and donates them to the Dayton homeless shelter.

The donations began on April 22 and will continue through May 22, a release said. The hotel will donate over 1,000 meals total by the time the program is complete.

Each lunch contains a meat sandwich, two snacks and a bottle of water or juice. The Hilton Garden Inn also donated about $5,500 to the local food bank.

Coronavirus: Complete coverage

Candice Turner, director of sales, said that they are offering discounted room rates to healthcare workers and first responders. Additionally, they have donated rooms to local hospitals and medical facilities.

“We want to provide healthcare workers with a safe clean place to sleep and shower and self-isolate,” she said.

“We take these matters very seriously. We want everyone to be safe now and during upcoming months. As Hilton founder Conrad Hilton said ‘It has been, and continues to be, our responsibility to fill the earth with the light and warmth of hospitality’ and we will continue to strive to be the best that we can be,” Turner said.
