Dayton area residents can get their name in book for late President Bush’s library

A Dayton funeral home is inviting guests to stop by through Wednesday and sign a register book for the late President George H.W. Bush for his presidential library.

The Baker-Hazel & Snider Funeral is asking those in the Dayton area to leave a memory and pay tribute to the 41st president, who died Friday at age 94 in Houston.

A register book at the funeral home will be available from noon today until 5 p.m. Wednesday. It will be sent to his family and presidential library in Texas, according to the funeral home.

Bush visited the Dayton area several times as president an vice president, and had roots here. His father, former U.S. Sen. Prescott Bush, was born in Ohio in 1895.

His wife’s parents, Marvin Pierce and Pauline Robinson, met at Miami University in Oxford. Marvin Pierce was later president of Dayton-based McCalls, publisher of Redbook and McCall’s.

Baker-Hazel & Snider Funeral is located at 5555 Philadelphia Drive at North Main Street.
