Dayton costly for renters

Dayton is the fourth costliest city in Ohio for renters to insure their house or apartment, according to a report by ValuePenguin.com, a personal finance research and analysis website.

Renters in Dayton are paying 11 percent more than the rest of the state to protect themselves and their personal property, a company spokeswoman said.

The study found that where Ohioans live influences how much they pay for renters insurance — annual premiums can vary by 42 percent from the most expensive city, Toledo, to the cheapest, Barberton.

The costliest cities in Ohio for renters insurance are Toledo, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton and Cincinnati. The cheapest are Barberton, Antwerp, Aurora, Ashland and Athens.
