Dayton Man Did Not Die From Beating

Dayton homicide detectives are calling a death suspicious, but they no longer believe the victim died as the result of a beating.

Originally, police said the 23-year-old man was beaten outside the Hammerjax Bar in downtown Dayton. The man was treated at a hospital and sent home.

Later, police said the man's girlfriend found him dead inside his home in the 900 block of Creighton Avenue.

Investigators now say an autopsy showed no signs that a beating caused the man's death.

They said he may have died from a drug overdose and they are waiting for the results of toxicology tests.
