DDN headline has social media buzzing

The front-page headline on today's Dayton Daily News is making national news, especially on social media.

The University of Dayton Flyers beat the Ohio State Buckeyes in dramatic fashion Thursday, 60-59, in second-round action of the NCAA tournament. And the newspaper came up with a headline that pokes a little fun at The Ohio State University, the school's official name.

The headline -- THE University of Dayton -- is blowing up on Twitter, with more than 16K mentions this morning.
Most of the social chatter is positive. "People love the headline," said Ashley Bethard, who monitors social media trends for the newspaper.
The headline and front page have received mention on USA Today, ESPN, Fox Sports, Bleacher Report, The Washington Post, CBS Sports, NBC Sports and Business Insider, to name a few.
ESPN posted a photo of the DDN front page on its Facebook page, and it's been shared more than 2.3K times. It has 15.8K-plus likes and more than 650 comments.

Brutus Buckeye's Twitter account humorously summed up his disappointment with the Dayton Daily News headline in one word: "Unsubscribe."
The newspaper is creating a poster of this popular front page, which is on sale for $5 until 5 p.m Friday in the lobby of the Dayton Daily News Media Cetner.
