Defense Attorney Patrick Mulligan said, “What has been suggested as a calm, cold, calculating plan rather is going to be shown by evidence as a desperate individual who had no plan."
The murder trial against Short started on Thursday. During opening statements, prosecutors told the jury that Short told his wife, Rhonda, that if she ever left him, he would kill her.
Police said Short killed Rhonda and church friend Donnie Sweeny in 2004 in Huber Heights.
Investigators said Short’s children witnessed the fatal shooting.
