Deloitte Relocating 150 Jobs To Downtown Dayton

One of the largest accounting and consulting organizations in the Dayton area will consolidate its Research Park and Key Bank Tower locations into The WorkflowOne Building, resulting in 150 new jobs downtown and a new headquarters for all 210 of Deloitte’s area employees.

Deloitte recently signed an approximately 7-year sub-lease with WorkflowOne under which Deloitte will occupy the building’s entire 5th floor, totaling approximately 30,000 square feet. Deloitte will move into the new space at 220 E. Monument Ave. during April of 2010.

A bedrock organization to the Dayton community, Deloitte and its predecessor organizations have been in Dayton since 1919. It has been at the Key Bank Building since 1977 and at the Kettering’s Research Park complex since 1994.

“We were looking for the right combination of features that would allow us to both support our client needs while providing a state-of-the-art environment for our employees,” said Ed Bentley, Deloitte & Touche LLP, managing partner of Deloitte’s Dayton practice. “The WorkflowOne building meets our commitment to downtown, yet at the same time we are 10 minutes from Wright Patterson Air Force Base and many of our suburban clients.”

Bentley said Deloitte’s employees will also benefit from the scenery and attractions afforded by the downtown river district. “When you couple the building’s amenities with its location and surroundings, it becomes the right location for Deloitte.”

“We are delighted that Deloitte has re-committed itself to downtown by consolidating its local operations and employees here,” said Shelley Dickstein, City of Dayton assistant city manager for strategic development. “The move allows the organization to enjoy the many quality of life attributes of the center city we have in place. As the heart of Dayton’s business community and the region’s premier business hub, downtown is a perfect fit for Deloitte’s operations.”

The Downtown Dayton Partnership and the City of Dayton have been working with Deloitte over the past 18 months in order to help identify office-space options for the company. The Dayton/Montgomery County Port Authority has also been a key player in helping Deloitte secure new space.

“The strong support provided by the City was an essential ingredient in the decision to consolidate our physical assets downtown,” said Bentley. “We appreciate the leadership and work underway through the Greater Downtown Dayton Plan and other efforts that are focused on strengthening our community’s urban core.”

“Downtown Dayton is an ideal location for Deloitte’s Dayton office and we are so happy that they have chosen to stay in our center city,” said Sandra K. Gudorf, president of the Downtown Dayton Partnership. “The downtown business community is excited to welcome the Deloitte employees who are relocating here in 2010.”

Deloitte will leverage existing conditions in the Workflow Building plus additional investments to create an environment consistent with its “Workplace of the Future” initiative, an effort to transform Deloitte’s U.S. offices into environments that use less energy and provide more openness. Under this approach, corner offices give way to leadership “peninsulas” that free up space and encourage interaction among employees. Natural light is more evenly distributed, and sensors adjust the office’s use of electricity. For Dayton, the changes will also bring video conferencing technology and better cellular reception, larger common areas and an inter-active cafe. The WorkflowOne Building is a natural fit with Deloitte’s space strategy and was a key consideration in its selection.

“WorkflowOne is happy to share the corner of Monument and Patterson with another leading business services firm,” said Dean Truitt, president and chief operating officer of WorkflowOne. “We have found downtown Dayton to be a great location for our company, which is why we chose to move our national headquarters here from Stamford, Conn., earlier this year. Our roots in Dayton go back more than 140 years. Having our corporate headquarters now in the Midwest positions us extremely well in terms of ease and proximity to customers nationwide.”

WorkflowOne, a leading provider of print management, marketing and distribution services, currently has 2,400 full-time employees in the U.S., including 400 in Dayton and 470 elsewhere in Ohio. For more information, visit www.workflowone.com or call (877) 735-4966.
