Disputed plan for 88 homes near Dayton Mall hits another snag

A multi-million-dollar plan to build 88 homes north of the Dayton Mall that has drawn concern by nearby residents has been rejected by the Miami Twp. Zoning Commission.

The commission this week recommended the plan involving about 32 acres east of Ohio 741 and north of Ohio 725 be denied when it goes before trustees next month.

The plan for the project known as Rivendell drew protests by dozens residents in the Vienna Park neighborhood. Among their concerns were the proposal’s impact on traffic, noise and property values.

A representative of Ryan Homes told township zoning commissioners the company wants to build houses priced in the $300,000 to $400,000 market, similar to what it has done in Beavercreek and in Centerville at Yankee Trace.
