Duffy selected as Carlisle village manager

Carlisle has hired from within for its new village manager.

Village Council met Friday evening to appoint long-time finance director Julie Duffy.

Mayor Randy Winkler said the appointment literally came to the wire as Friday was the last day for former village manager Sherry Callahan, who completed 30 years of public service and served as manager since 2008.

Winkler said Duffy’s base pay will be $85,000 a year.

“I’m glad she applied,” Winkler said. “After council interviewed her, council felt that we found the right person. We didn’t have a lot of time because today was Sherry’s last day.”

Duffy was one of 42 applicants from both the public and private sectors but was the only candidate council interviewed during a meeting that went into executive session to discuss personnel.

“It’s just now sinking in,” Duffy said Friday evening. “I’m very excited to accept this new role and continue the work of Sherry Callahan, Brad Townsend (a former village manager who now is West Carrollton city manager) and the others before me.”
