Embers Still Smoldering From Historic Feed Mill Fire

It's been 10 days since flames destroyed a historic feed mill in downtown Piqua.

While the cause of the fire remains unknown, the embers continue to smolder.

The fire started May 7, in the old Piqua Feed, Seed and Supply company on Main Street.

Across the street this week, contractors were replacing siding at the warehouse that was damaged in the extreme heat from the fire.

While there were reports of kids seen running from the rear of the mill just before the fire, the cause is officially listed as undetermined.

Fire officials in Piqua hope to soon coordinate the cleanup of the property with the owner in order to finish putting out the fire before the scrap goes to the landfill or the dump.

Damages were estimated at $125,000.
