Englewood police: Rumors of protesters breaking in are false

The Englewood Police Department posted to its Facebook page Monday that rumors about protesters breaking into homes of white families in Englewood are false.

The department had received numerous calls about the rumors and wanted to stop them.

A since-deleted Facebook post claimed that there were break-ins happening in Englewood. It claimed that these break-ins were being committed by protesters against white families.

However, the police department said no such crimes had been reported within the city of Englewood.

“We posted the response to our Facebook page to stem the number of calls into our communication center querying the validity of the rumor, which, as we stated, is false,” said Sgt. Mike Lang of the Englewood Police Department.

Many commenters on the city’s post thanked the police department for putting an end to the rumors and for the work they do on a daily basis.
