Fairfield building demolished to make way for car parts retailer

The largest retailer of aftermarket automotive parts and accessories in the United States will build a new location in Butler County.

The construction of a new AutoZone at 5888 Dixie Highway in Fairfield means demolition of a structure built in 1972 that once was home to Production Tool Rental & Sales.

AutoZone purchased the property Sept. 7 for $490,000, according to the Butler County Auditor’s Office. The value of the constructed project is estimated at $651,427, according to a building permit issued by the City of Fairfield.

Founded in 1979, AutoZone has more than 6,000 stores across the United States, Mexico and Brazil.
