Falling Ice, Snow Cause Problems

Falling ice and heavy snow caused problems in the Miami Valley during the weekend.

On Sunday afternoon, a man was injured when he was hit by falling icicles in Beavercreek.

The incident happened along Plum Street at The Greene, which is a local shopping center.

Authorities said the man was walking when a clump of icicles fell from one of the buildings, causing facial lacerations.

Paramedics transported the man to Miami Valley South. Dispatchers would not say if his injuries were serious.

In Montgomery County, heavy snow caused roof damage in Kettering. A building in the 2600 block of Revere Avenue sustained some damage when heavy snow caused part of the roof to cave in.

No one was injured during the incident but it did damage nearby power lines.
