Fiery Crash Kills Indiana Man

The Indiana State Police is investigating a fatal crash on Interstate 70 that killed a 22-year veteran of the Indiana State Police Motor Carrier Division.

The crash happened on Interstate 70 near the 137 mile marker at about 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.

According to a press release from the Indiana State Police, 64-year-old Bob Pitcher of Pershing, Ind., lost control of his pickup truck, struck a guardrail, crossed the median and then struck a semi head-on.

Pitcher was pronounced dead at the scene. He was a motor carrier inspector.

The driver of the semi received extensive burns and was flown to an Indianapolis hospital for treatment. Investigators have not determined the cause of the crash.

The crash closed east and westbound lanes of I-70 for several hours.
